The benefits of massage at work speak for themselves

Seated Massage is revitalising people’s wellbeing at work. Everyone deserves to be comfortable, healthy and happy, and feel good about themselves and their lives. Mental and physical health in the workplace is a key part of this.

Seated Massage provides regular corporate massage that impacts body and mind to purpose-driven organisations that value their people. On-site massage – chair, table or roving – is an accessible, ethical and hugely beneficial form of touch therapy.

Trust and reassurance are required for optimum mental and physical health. Workplace massage, a well-established form of positive, ethical touch from a credible source like Seated Massage, provides this unconditionally. Regular Seated Massage in the workplace inspires wellbeing, puts values into action and shows people how much their employer cares for their health and happiness – actions speak louder than words.

There’s plenty of science-backed research espousing the benefits of regular massage at work.

Dr Deborah Nicola Lane wrote her PhD Thesis at Victoria University on Improving workplace productivity and corporate culture: perceptions and experiences of the effects of workplace massage”. She concluded, “… the results of this study provides evidence-based support for the implementation and on-going support for workplace massage programs.”

Dr Tiffany Field, of the University of Miami Touch Research Institute co-wrote a paper published in the International Journal of Neuroscience on how regular 15 minute massage reduces anxiety, enhances alertness and regulates stress levels in individual recipients.

For many people, simply ‘feeling fantastic’ after a massage is enough for them. We want employers to know that it’s possible for their people to feel fantastic, cared for and valued at work, and that they will take those beneficial feelings back into their workplace, out into the world and into their personal lives.

Doesn’t every employer want this for their people?

Physical health benefits of massage at work

Whatever work you do, poor posture and repetitive patterns of movement (or lack thereof!) can take its toll. How often have you sat at your desk squeezing your shoulders or forearms, or rolling your neck in circles trying to relieve some tension?

Physically healthy workplaces report:

  • Less absenteeism
  • Less workers’ compensation claims
  • More innovative and engaged employees

Mental health benefits of massage at work

Many workplaces use corporate massage as an early intervention and prevention strategy for mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety. Gentle ethical touch reduces stress hormones and stimulates the release of neuropeptides, responsible for our feelings of happiness.

Mentally healthy workplaces report:

  • More prosocial behaviours
  • More trust and reassurance amongst colleagues
  • Relaxed and quieter minds = creative and productive minds

Seated Massage assisted us greatly to provide mental relief to our staff across our offices during the pandemic, allowing each staff member to mentally and physically unwind. Stu and the team were brilliant, fantastic, professional, effective and made the process simple and easy. We are looking forward to working with them again and would totally recommend Seated Massage to any workplace.

Newday Leadership

The Newday Leadership Summit is part conference, part festival and part wellbeing retreat. The team from Seated Massage were valuable (and very popular) hands-on partners in this, bringing the sense of touch and the strength of support to a day full of memorable experiences.

I just wanted to say an enormous thank you to Seated Massage for being part of our inaugural ‘Munch n Move’ series. We’ve had wonderful feedback from the community, particularly those in Lynwood and Queens Park who do not often get such events in their area. The series felt fun, wholesome and really served its purpose! We appreciate Seated Massage’s effort in helping us put together something great. Looking forward to the next one!

We have Seated Massage visit once a fortnight, and the entire company looks forward to every visit. It boosts morale, and encourages team members to take a moment out from the rigours of their working day and focus on their wellbeing. The quality of the therapists is absolutely first-rate. They are highly skilled, and intuitive to the needs of each individual.

The process for organising Seated Massage across the years has been seamless. They respond promptly to my requests, always accommodate my needs and provide a great online appointment booking process for staff. They have been so easy to work with and I would not hesitate to recommend them to any organisation wanting to implement health and wellbeing initiatives for their staff.
